FUTURE STEPS TIME PLAN

3 MONTHS – AUGUST 2025

By August 2025, I would have finished university and would have been living back home for 2 months and be back at my part time job, at Tesco.

During these three months, I hope to have been able to take some time to rest, the effort I have placed into my degree has been incredibly draining – but incredibly worth it. I hope i have also been able to work on my mental health and get me back to feeling human again.

My original plan was to do a master's degree this year , specializing in pattern cutting, but due to the toll I have experienced on my mental health during this year i think it would be best for me to take a year out just to breathe, have some time to myself and more importantly have some fun away from university for a year. I hope to be able to catch up with friends and family, potentially try and go for a weekend away if i am able to obtain the funds as university as scrapped me clean these past three years,

Although I would like to have some time to myself,  I am not going to stop working on my pattern cutting and garment construction skills. I am thinking of creating a small capsule collection to explore some pattern cutting ideas I had during this year but was unable to complete due to timing and the decline within my mental heath.

6 MONTHS – NOVEMBER 2025

By November 2025, I hope to have fully picked myself up and be back to the person i used to be as well as have some overdue time with friends and family. I should have been able to work a lot during this time, as i would have no other commitments, which means i should have been able to obtain some funds back.

I hope I have been able to have some fun with fashion and be able to create a small capsule collection full of the ideas I scrapped from my final collection.

If I still have a passion to do a master's course, specialising in pattern cutting, I will start to put a portfolio together of my best work as well as any new work I create, if i deem it worthy enough as well as beginning to look at different universities that hold this course and start weighing up which one would be best suited for me, I am thinking of trying to find somewhere closer to home where I would be able to commute to instead of having to live there, as i think this has became a huge issue while studying at Plymouth.

On the other hand, if i find myself no longer desiring to study a master's course I will begin to look for jobs within the fashion industry preferably looking at jobs that are geared more towards pattern cutting or garment construction, as in my opinion, these are my top strengths.

1 YEAR – MAY 2026

I suppose i have two options for where I am hoping to be in the next twelve months and it all depends on what path i chose to go down; whether i study a master's degree or apply for jobs that are geared towards pattern cutting.

If I went down the route of studying a master's degree then at this point in my life, I would have already sent off my application via UCAS and would be having interviews for the places I have applied for or even getting offers from these universities.

if I went down the route of applying for jobs within the industry then I hope i have been able to obtain a job within my chosen fields of pattern cutting / garment construction. I also hope I am working for a good company that aligns with my personal beliefs.

No matter what path i chose to go down, I just hope I'm happy.

5 YEARS - MAY 2030

In five years I will be close to turning 30 years old, and once again I suppose I have two different paths my life could have gone down but in someway at this point in my life they would have merged.

If i did opted to study a master's degree, and actually get in, then I hope I was able to further advance my pattern cutting skills as well as be able to showcase the skills i have already obtained from my degree at university. I hope that studying a master's degree opened even more doors for me within the fashion industry and allowed me to obtain a good job within the pattern cutting sector of the industry.

If i opted out of studying a master's degree and decided to apply for jobs then I hope at this point in my life I have been working within the industry for a few years and have been able to obtain a great set of industry experience and further my knowledge and skills.

Depending on which path i chose, i hope that either has allowed me to get a good position within the fashion industry.

No matter where I am at this point in my life, I am hopeful that i'll be happy.
