JO RIOU

Jo Riou is a quilter based in Monmouth, UK, whom I visited during a trip. Jo has her business where she quilt peoples patchwork designs from her own studio attached to her house, which homes two large computerised long-arm quilting machines.

Jo has a connection to the fashion industry as she is works with, and is commissioned by, Richard Quinn. Riou started to work with Quinn during his AW21 collection and has worked with him since.

Jo also conducted a quilting workshop while i was visiting her studio and gave us in depth demonstrations on how her machines operate as well as the various functions they offer. During this workshop I was able to try out some quilting using one of her long-arm machines and it so incredibly easy unlike having to quilt on a domestic or industrial sewing machine which I attempted after visiting her studio and i found it incredibly cumbersome in comparison to using her machine.
