Role

Fashion designer

The Murder of the Couturier is my graduate collection which is inspired by the game "Cluedo" and the Golden Age of Hollywood.

For this collection I wanted to challenge myself and show off all of my skills, and for that I pulled inspiration from the character profiles that Cluedo uses within the game. This collection consists of four different garments that represent a different character I am trying to convey. Although each garment is unique within itself and does not carry many similarities to the next, the running theme between each garment is the cherry red shade that I chose to place within in piece.

THE ASSISTANT
The assistant consists of a conical bust dress, a backwards blazer that features two cut outs within the center front to allow the conical bust to peak through and a tailored skirt that has a spilt down the center front. This garment is supposed to convey a person who feels trapped within their position and wishes to be set free.

THE STARLET
The Starlet consists of a dress that features a rose like knot placed within the centre front, the dress is panelled and features two bands either side as well as a pair of hot pants that are worn underneath. This design is inspired by stage curtains.

THE MUSE
The Muse consists of a dress that has a hole placed into one of the side seams that will be gathered via a channel and a spaghetti strap and a puddle hem skirt. This garment is supposed to showcase a dying muse, and I pulled inspiration from bin bags to create this design.

THE RIVAL
The Rival features three different elements to it. This garment consists of a puffball dress with a bodice that has a sharp keyhole placed within the centre front, a larger puffball skirt and a mermaid skirt that puddles across the floor. This garment was inspired by femme fatale and the way they tussle themselves in-between bed sheets.
